Softsound Acoustic Wall Panels are a decorative, impact resistant acoustic wall paneling system designed to absorb high levels of reflected noise and reverberation within a room to create a softer and more comfortable acoustic environment. They are available as a liner panel system or as standalone panels. Softsound is manufactured from a 96kg per m³ sound absorbing mineral fibre board bonded to a high impact facing board and covered with a high quality acoustically transparent fabric.
Softsound Liner Panels are fixed between top and bottom ‘U’ channels, and various trims are available to cover vertical joints, external corners, internal corners and angled directional change corners. Channels and trims are covered in the same fabric as the liner panels to provide an aesthetically pleasing floor-to-ceiling finish.
Softsound Designer Panels are designed to partially cover walls for aesthetic effect or where overall wall coverage is not a practicality or a requirement. Panels incorporate an integral rigid edging frame with acoustically transparent fabric wrapped around all four sides. They can be installed as separate stand alone feature panels or as a bank of panels in different colours.

Sound absorption is defined, as the incident sound that strikes a material that is not reflected back. An open window is an excellent absorber since the sounds passing through the open window are not reflected back. Conversely it makes a poor sound barrier. Painted concrete block is a good sound barrier but will reflect about 97% of the incident sound striking it. When a sound wave hits an acoustical material the sound wave causes the fibers or particles of the absorbing material to vibrate. This vibration causes tiny amounts of heat due to the friction and thus sound absorption is accomplished by way of energy to heat conversion. The more fibrous a material is the better the absorption; conversely denser materials are less absorptive.

Sound Absorption Coefficient (BS EN ISO 354).
The sound absorption coefficient indicates how much of the sound is absorbed in the actual material.
This absorption coefficient varies with the frequency of sound.

SoftSound
Decorative and impact resistant wall panelling system designed to absorb high levels of reflected noise within a room to create a softer and more comfortable acoustic environment. SoftSound Designer Panels:
Designed to partially cover walls for aesthetic effect or where overall wall coverage is not a practicality or a requirement. Panels incorporate an integral rigid edging frame with acoustically transparent fabric wrapped around all four sides. This not only allows for installation as separate stand-alone feature panels but also permits the creation of banks of panels in different colours. They are available in a wide range of bespoke sizes and shapes and can be fixed directly to walls using a variety of fixing methods including Z-clips and Velcro. SoftSound Liner Panels:
Decorative acoustic wall panels manufactured from sound absorbing mineral fibre board bonded to a high impact facing board and covered with a high quality acoustically transparent fabric. Panels are available in standard sizes and thicknesses, and can be cut on site to fit individual wall areas with minimal joints. The panels are fixed between top and bottom ‘U’ channels, and various trims are available to cover vertical joints, external corners, internal corners and angled directional change corners. Channels and trims are covered in the same fabric as the liner panels to provide an aesthetically pleasing floor-to-ceiling finish. Standard product features
Thermal conductivity: 0.033 W/mK.
Fire rating (to BS 476-6 and BS 476-7): Meets the requirements of Class 1 surface spread of flame. Fabrics can be chemically treated to provide a Class O fire rating.
Size (h x w): SoftSound Designer Panels: 2690 x 1215 mm (maximum). SoftSound Liner Panels: 2700 x 1220 mm.
